LaSalle is 2-8 against St. Mary since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. LaSalle will challenge St. Mary at 7:00 p.m. LaSalle will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
LaSalle proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 34) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-22 win over Northwood.
The critical scores for LaSalle came from Jessey Stowe, Alex Richmond, and Wyatt King.
LaSalle was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 215 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. St. Mary was the clear victor by a 42-18 margin over Montgomery. St. Mary's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
St. Mary's win came from a few key players LaSalle will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was John Paul Thibodaux, who rushed for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ashton Johnson, who threw for 181 yards and three TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes.
St. Mary's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB 9.5 times. Haiden Nelson led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. La'Travion Jefferson is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played.
St. Mary picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for LaSalle, their record is now 6-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. LaSalle has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 280 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like St. Mary struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 147.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
LaSalle was dealt a bruising 30-0 loss at the hands of St. Mary in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for LaSalle, Braylon Normand (who threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 45 yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time.
