The Pikeville Panthers's 27-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 72-47 walloping at the hands of Blazer on Tuesday. Pikeville lost against Blazer in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 84-66 score last time.
Zander Carter was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Blazer. The game was Carter's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyson Lalonde, who scored 17 points.
Pikeville's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. As for Blazer, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Pikeville will be home for the holidays to greet Madison Southern at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Blazer, they will head out on the road to face off against Fairview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Blazer likes a good challenge.
