Fairmont came out on top against Miamisburg  on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Firebirds blew past the Vikings 12-5. Considering the Firebirds have won six games by more than six  runs this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.

The team  relied heavily on  Carlee Netherton, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  double. Those  three  RBI gave  her a new career-high.  Bailey Young also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
 Fairmont was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miamisburg only posted a  batting average of  .276.
 Meanwhile,  Talawanda unfortunately witnessed the end of their  seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell  4-1 to Badin.
 Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Talawanda, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
 Everything went Fairmont's way against Talawanda when the teams last played  back in April of 2015, as Fairmont made off with  an  11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
