Danbury has gone a perfect 10-0 against McMahon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hatters will be playing at home against the Senators at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Danbury has three straight victories, McMahon has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Danbury's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Westhill with a sharp 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hatters, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jacqueline Marks was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Chloe Trimandilis and Sophie O'Connell did most of the damage at the plate: Trimandilis went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while O'Connell went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Trimandilis has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was T'Aira Walters, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Danbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for McMahon's offense. They came up short against Trumbull on Wednesday, falling 14-0.
McMahon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexa Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.
Danbury's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for McMahon, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
McMahon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Danbury has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for McMahon, though, as they've been averaging 11.3 hits. Given Danbury's sizable advantage in that area, the Senators will need to find a way to close that gap.
Danbury took their victory against McMahon in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Hatters repeat their success, or do the Senators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
