Lytle is 9-1 against Dilley since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pirates will take on the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lytle has five straight wins, Dilley has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lytle had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Cotulla on Friday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Cowboys. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Devin Cordova and Weston Jackson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cordova didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Jackson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cordova has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cordova went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Jackson went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits Cordova has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Mason Hill was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Davila, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Dilley's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-0 to Hondo, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Dilley's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Lytle, their record is now 14-6-1.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lytle has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Dilley struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lytle got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Dilley by a conclusive 15-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
