There's no place like home for the Vero Beach Indians, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Jensen Beach by a score of 54-44 on Tuesday. This was payback for Vero Beach, who suffered a 68-63 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Vero Beach got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emmanuel Guirand out in front who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Brendan Mackey, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Jensen Beach's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Curry jr., who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Lincoln Campo was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Vero Beach has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Jensen Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vero Beach will square off against Sebastian River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jensen Beach won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lincoln Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: J'Shaun Williams and Cordell Wilkins.
