Basketball Recap: Plano Piles Up the Points Against Harvard

Plano had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 37-point drubbing they dealt Harvard on Friday. The Plano Reapers claimed a resounding 63-26 victory over the Harvard Hornets. The Reapers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Plano was led to victory by Josie Larson and Nylah Mathews. Larson went 9 for 15 on her way to 26 points and four steals, while Mathews went 9 of 11 to rack up 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Mathews a new career-high in shooting accuracy (82%). Cami Nunez was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Plano smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 42 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Plano has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. As for Harvard, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plano will host Sandwich at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harvard, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South Beloit at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
