Softball Recap: Lincoln-Way East Wins Going Away Against Plainfield South

Lincoln-Way East won against St. Laurence last Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Lincoln-Way East put the hurt on the Plainfield South Cougars with a sharp 12-4 victory. The Griffins haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Audrey Bullock and Mia Balta made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Bullock struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Balta tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Bullock went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Balta scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Madeline Henry and Cassidy Jagielski did most of the damage at the plate: Henry went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Jagielski went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Tegan Koehler, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Lincoln-Way East's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Plainfield South, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way East will look to defend their home field on Monday against Downers Grove North at 4:30 p.m. As for Plainfield South, they will venture away from home to take on Lincoln-Way West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
