The Fort Calhoun Pioneers will be home for the holidays to greet the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Fort Calhoun beat Yutan 45-37. Given Fort Calhoun's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Yutan is ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Grayson Bouwman, who scored 17 points along with four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Fort Calhoun's points. Another player making a difference was Colby Bentley, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though West Monona scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Bancroft-Rosalie still came out on top. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Bancroft-Rosalie made off with a 60-59 victory over West Monona.
Fort Calhoun's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Bancroft-Rosalie, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Fort Calhoun was able to grind out a solid win over Bancroft-Rosalie in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 51-40. Does Fort Calhoun have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bancroft-Rosalie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
