It was a good run, but the Eden Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gowanda. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Eden still had to take the loss.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mike Weyland, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taesyn Slating, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eden smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Eden's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Gowanda, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eden won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kennedy at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th. Kennedy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 761st, while Eden is ranked 296th). As for Gowanda, they will head out on the road to take on Frewsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Frewsburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
