The Mullen Broncos will venture away from home to square off against the Archangels Catholic Defenders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mullen will be strutting in after a victory while Archangels Catholic will be coming in after a loss.
Mullen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 win over Cody-Kilgore. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Broncos have posted since January 31st.

Jacob Walker had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 4-for-7 from long range and almost dropping a double-double with 25 points and nine boards. Mullen is 7-2 when Walker posts 15 or more points, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ben Werner, who posted 15 points and three steals.
Mullen was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cody-Kilgore only posted eight.
Meanwhile, Archangels Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 55-51 to Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
Mullen will have to contain Brenden Johannes as he made an impact in Archangels Catholic's last game. He shot 56% from the field on his way to 23 points and eight rebounds. Johannes' big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Ethan Wieseler was another key player, putting up eight points along with six boards and three steals.
Mullen pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Archangels Catholic, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 23-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mullen has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Archangels Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Mullen was dealt a bruising 74-35 loss at the hands of Archangels Catholic when the teams last played back in March of 2020. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
