D.C. Everest is 9-1 against Wausau West since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The D.C. Everest Evergreens will look to defend their home court against the Wausau West Warriors at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, D.C. Everest came up short against Stevens Point and fell 59-46. While losing is never fun, D.C. Everest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Stevens Point is ranked eighth).
Meanwhile, Wausau West scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln with points to spare, taking the game 87-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Wausau West can attribute much of their success to Griffin Lange, who scored 23 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Brett Butalla, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lange has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Hager, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
D.C. Everest has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Wausau West, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
