The Leuzinger Olympians waltzed into their contest Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 59-34 margin over Centennial. Given Leuzinger's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Centennial is ranked 1225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Leuzinger to victory were Darrian Henry and Joshua Garland. Henry scored 20 points along with three steals, while Garland dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Garland's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Charles, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Leuzinger's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Centennial, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leuzinger will take on Morningside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Morningside is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Centennial, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Inglewood at 6:00 p.m. Inglewood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
