Softball Recap: Athens Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Athens took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Colbert Heights, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Wildcats on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Golden Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Jaicey Harty spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Caitlyn Tedford was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Athens hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 23-12. As for Colbert Heights, they moved to 28-7 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will square off against Huntsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Colbert Heights, they will challenge Covenant Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
