Willcox is 1-9 against Bisbee since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Willcox Cowboys will head out on the road to challenge the Bisbee Pumas at 7:00 p.m. Willcox will be strutting in after a victory while Bisbee will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Willcox didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Tombstone, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory. The win was just what Willcox needed coming off of a 68-37 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Bisbee came up short against Pima on Tuesday and fell 57-48.
The losing side was boosted by Jose Mendez, who scored 23 points. Sebastian Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Willcox's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Bisbee, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
Things could have been worse for Willcox, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-52 loss to Bisbee in their previous meeting on January 2nd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mendez, who scored 27 points along with five assists. Now that Willcox knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
