The Platte Canyon Huskies scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They rang in the new year with a 44-33 win over Arvada. The win was just what Platte Canyon needed coming off of a 35-13 defeat in their prior game.
It was another big night for Sydney Curtis, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caley Erickson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Arvada lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Ngewasi. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Ngewasi scored a full 39.4% of Arvada's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Platte Canyon's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Arvada, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Middle Park the next time they take the court. Arvada will head out to face Middle Park at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, while Platte Canyon will head out to face them at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
