Basketball Recap: Centerville Skates Past Abbott with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Centerville had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Abbott Panthers 70-38. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 games by 22 points or more this season.

Centerville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jake Slaten out in front who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Slaten is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kolt Larsen, who dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists.

Centerville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Centerville's victory bumped their record up to 27-6. As for Abbott, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Coming up, Centerville will face off against Calvert at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvert has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 193 points over their last three matches. Abbott does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
