The Douglas Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Spanish Springs Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Douglas' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Spanish Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Douglas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over Damonte Ranch. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Haylie Pledger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Annie Hill was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Ida Martin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Douglas hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in ten consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Spanish Springs faced Galena in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 13-9. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Izzy Chisholm was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Hailey Robinson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Douglas' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Spanish Springs, their record is now 21-10-1.
Spanish Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Douglas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game.
