Softball Recap: Riverside Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

Riverside made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ysleta, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Riverside was the clear victor by a 15-5 margin over Ysleta on Friday. Considering the Rangers have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Julie Muniz was a standout: she fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mandy Contreras, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Muniz wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Riverside has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. Ysleta dropped their record down to 8-12-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Riverside is set to face off against their familiar foe Irvin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ysleta will take on rival Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
