The Smith Valley Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Excel Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Smith Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 845 points over their last 13 contests.
Smith Valley pushed their score all the way to 64 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Virginia City. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), Smith Valley still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Excel Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Coleville by a score of 57-47. The win was just what Excel Christian needed coming off of a 56-31 defeat in their prior match.
Excel Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mark Doerfler out in front who scored 18 points. Jonah Calderas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Smith Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4. As for Excel Christian, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Everything came up roses for Smith Valley against the Warriors in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 64-27 victory. With Smith Valley ahead 41-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.
