A big part of St. Mary's win came down to the chemistry between Luke Horn and his top target Ezekiel Chavez. Horn rushed for 66 yards on only nine carries while Chavez rushed for 62 yards and one TD on only five carries. That's the most rushing yards Horn has posted since back in September.
St. Mary's was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 274 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to St. Mary's defense and their four sacks. Nolan Brown was especially locked on to Deer Valley's QB and sacked him three times.
Meanwhile, Arcadia put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Snowflake by a score of 32-22. Arcadia's victory was all the more impressive since the Lobos were averaging only 14.2 points allowed on the season.
St. Mary's better keep an eye on Ryan Jimenez. He was instrumental in Arcadia's win, rushing for 250 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for eight yards and one touchdown. Jimenez's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 146 rushing yards. Arcadia also got help from Ian Slater, who showed off his sure hands for 88 receiving yards.
St. Mary's record is now 7-4. As for Arcadia, their record now sits at 10-0.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. St. Mary's has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 371.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Arcadia struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 374.8 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
St. Mary's was dealt a bruising 34-6 loss at the hands of Arcadia in their previous matchup back in August of 2023. Thankfully for the Knights, Braylen Rooney (who threw for 160 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 74.1% of his passes, and also rushed for 49 yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
