Pomeroy waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Waitsburg/Prescott Cardinals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since March 25th.

Jett Slusser was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has become a key player for Pomeroy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 6-7 otherwise. Slusser was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Newberg, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Conrad Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Pomeroy's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Waitsburg/Prescott, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.
