Torrance lost to Inglewood 33-2 last week, the largest margin of any game.
El Segundo's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Lars Nootbaar threw for 70 yards and Nick Karsseboom had 24 yards receiving. On the ground Elijah Hale chipped in 15 yards. Connor Underwood helped El Segundo's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 20 yards.
Hale was the best running back in Pioneer this week. In 4 carries, he ran for 15 yards as the Eagles fell to Laguna Hills. Jamie Stewart also contributed to the rushing game with 14 yards on the ground.
El Segundo's Nootbaar and Stewart have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Nootbaar has thrown for 946 yards this season, while Stewart has 26 catches for 565 yards. The Tartars' David Aros leads the league in rushing yards with 278.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Steve Shevlin's team takes on Lawndale. The Eagles' offense has scored 130 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Cardinals have allowed only 87 on the year.
A big matchup in Pioneer this week will be when El Segundo takes on Lawndale. As it stands, the Eagles are in third, while Rick Mathiesen's team is in first.
El Segundo led the league in points allowed with 26.
