Baseball Recap: Reedsville Has No Trouble Against Mishicot

Reedsville got themselves on the board against Mishicot on Thursday, but Mishicot never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Indians. Considering the Panthers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kodie Bubolz and Lucas Lodel made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Bubolz struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Lodel didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Bubolz has become a key player for Reedsville: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 5-6 otherwise. At the plate, Bubolz got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Lodel went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sawyer Ubersox, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jack Schwahn was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Reedsville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mishicot, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reedsville will face off against Manitowoc Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Mishicot, they will take on Gibraltar/Washington Island at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
