The biggest upset of the week belonged to Nevada Union, who took down 131st ranked Nevada Union, 45-35. ZACH LABAR threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns and ran for eight yards in the win.
Del Oro moved up to 121 from 151 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Sierra Foothill. The Golden Eagles were able to make move up by beating the Miners 45-35.
Nevada Union's dynamic duo of Kyle Cota and Ian Davis proved tough for Del Oro to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cota threw for 448 yards and three touchdowns and Davis had 131 yards receiving. Austin Marks helped Nevada Union's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 116 yards.
Nick Grace made the biggest impact on defense this week as Granite Bay bested Woodcreek. The 5-foot-11 senior grabbed one interception.
BRANDON MONROE was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 192 yards as Casey Taylor's team lost to Casey Taylor's team.
The Miners' Cota and Davis have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cota has thrown for 2204 yards this season, while Davis, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 65 catches for 1109 yards. The Grizzlies' John Cooley leads the league in rushing yards with 844.
Going into this week's game against Roseville, the Timberwolves' Stephen Nogosek needs 87 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 16 touchdowns this year, Nogosek has thrown for 1913 yards with nine interceptions.
A big matchup in Sierra Foothill this week will be when Nevada Union takes on Granite Bay. As it stands, the Miners are in third, while Ernie Cooper's team is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Nevada Union and the Grizzlies face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Miners comes in having scored 290 this season, while Granite Bay has scored 290. Nevada Union scored 35 points last week as it fell to the Golden Eagles.
The Grizzlies extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Woodcreek, 48-13. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
