The Battle Mountain Longhorns were the 50-37 winner over the Virginia City Muckers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Battle Mountain took a 72-57 bruising from Virginia City on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Battle Mountain's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Blake Stuart, who scored 20 points, and Geovanni Ruvalcaba who scored 19 points. The game was Stuart's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Brodie Smith was another key contributor, scoring 5 points.
Battle Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Virginia City, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Battle Mountain's road trip will continue as they head out to face Pahranagat Valley at 5:00 p.m. on December 8th. Pahranagat Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Virginia City, they will square off against Eureka at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Eureka's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Virginia City's offense will have their work cut out for Virginia City.
