Football Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Lawrence-Nelson

Lawrence-Nelson extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-1. They walked away with a 42-30 victory over the Deshler Dragons. 42 seems to be a good number for the Raiders as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Wyatt Frey produced another solid effort rushing for 254 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Jackson Williams was in the mix as well, providing Lawrence-Nelson with three touchdowns.

Lawrence-Nelson didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Deshler to a completion percentage of just 40%. The Raiders hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.25 or higher in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Deshler fell to 4-1. They have struggled against Lawrence-Nelson recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Deshler still got an impressive performance from Braxton Peterson, who rushed for 181 yards and three scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Peterson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Orme, who gained 122 total yards and a touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lawrence-Nelson will head out to face off against Nebraska Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 69 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Deshler, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bruning-Davenport/Shickley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
