Baseball Recap: Cedarcrest Sets Scoring Season-High Against Foster

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedarcrest). They never let the Foster Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Wednesday. The Red Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Jake Polacek made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cedarcrest got a massive performance out of Braden Bottemiller, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those five runs gave Bottemiller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Thompson, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Cedarcrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .592. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foster only posted an OBP of .286.

Cedarcrest is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Foster, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Coincidentally, Cedarcrest and Foster will both be playing Sammamish the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Red Wolves will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
