There's no place like home for the Blue Valley Northwest Huskies, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 68-58 win over Lee's Summit North on Friday. Given Blue Valley Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Kansas, while the Broncos are ranked 67th in Missouri), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Joey Matteoni was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Klein, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Blue Valley Northwest's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Lee's Summit North, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Valley Northwest will take on the Stags at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lee's Summit North, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Staley is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
