The Heights Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Heights sitting on six straight victories and Fort Bend Hightower on seven.
Heights had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Memorial with a sharp 42-20 win on Saturday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Heights had established a 21 point advantage.
Heights' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lamont Robins, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Heights also got a significant boost from Dylan Ray, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Hightower stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 35-7 win over Jordan on the road. Given Fort Bend Hightower's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Jordan is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Heights to 8-3 and Fort Bend Hightower to 10-1.
Heights ended up a good deal behind Fort Bend Hightower when the teams last played back in November of 2022, losing 42-27. Can Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
