Westwood's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Merritt Island Mustangs as the Westwood Panthers made off with a 55-30 victory. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Jihla Greer, who posted 18 points and four steals. Te'Anaina Rivers was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Despite the defeat, Merritt Island saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hailie Carver put up seven points along with ten boards and five blocks. Those five blocks gave Carver a new career-high.

Westwood's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.7 points per game. As for Merritt Island, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Westwood will take on Okeechobee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Merritt Island, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-10 loss against Edgewood on the 9th.
