Basketball Recap: York Country Day Extends Winning Streak to Three

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely York Country Day's strategy against Lancaster Catholic on Tuesday. York Country Day blew past Lancaster Catholic 79-55. Fans of York Country Day have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead York Country Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johnson Ilonga, who posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave Ilonga a new career-high. Elijah Slaughter was another key player, putting up 17 points.

The win was the third in a row for York Country Day, bringing their record up to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 68.3 points this season. As for Lancaster Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York Country Day will welcome Steelton-Highspire at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lancaster Catholic, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Lampeter-Strasburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Crusaders' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
