The Amory Panthers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They slipped by Kosciusko 24-23 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Amory.
Leading Amory to victory were Braden Maranto and Emmanuel Randle. Maranto rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown, while Randle rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Randle has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last seven times he's played.
Defeat or not, Kosciusko got some senior leadership from Caden Greer who threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns and Jaquavous Pace who picked up 157 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Pace is on a roll when it comes to receiving yards, as he's now posted 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Amory's win was their third straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.7 points per game. As for Kosciusko, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Amory will square off against West Lauderdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Lauderdale is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. Kosciusko does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
