Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory is 0-5 against Indianapolis Lutheran since May of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. The Braves will head out to square off against the Saints at 10:00 a.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Heritage Christian a 10-0 shutout. The Braves not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23rd (when they won 21-1).
Sophie Braun was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Indianapolis Lutheran had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Indianapolis Lutheran let Avery Langston and Shae Olson run wild. Langston went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Olson went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Zoe Sondag also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, their record now sits at 14-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Indianapolis Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
