Northwest Jersey - Freedom recap November 13, 2013
Dover extended the longest winning streak in Northwest Jersey - Freedom this week by beating Parsippany, 39-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Kittatinny Regional was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. The Cougars defeated the Cougars 19-7 earlier in the week.
Rylan Pangborn provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lenape Valley fell to Hanover Park. He completed 9 passes for 217 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 20 yards. Pangborn's key target this week was Fred Scharnikow, who caught 5 passes for 176 yards.
Kyle Neuschatz was the best running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 148 yards as Jefferson Township lost to the Hornets. Jerry Reese also contributed to the rushing game with 135 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Reese and Neuschatz, the Falcons have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Reese is tops in the league in passing with 1,357 yards, while Neuschatz has rushed for 1,026 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Lenape Valley's Scharnikow, with 697 yards on 30 catches.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Don Smolyn's team's Scharnikow goes up against Newton's Casey Thomas.
The Braves are currently in sixth, while the Patriots are in seventh.
Hanover Park and Lenape Valley played the closest game in Northwest Jersey - Freedom this week, with Hanover Park eventually emerging with a 21-19 victory. Matt Hoberman threw for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 57 yards in the win.
