The Potomac School Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 76-53 margin over Bishop O'Connell. Given Potomac School's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Bishop O'Connell is ranked 37th), the result on Sunday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Potomac School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Catherine Letendre, who scored 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Letendre continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Anderson, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Potomac School and bumps their season record up to 7-2. As for Bishop O'Connell, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.
Potomac School and St. Mary's will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bishop O'Connell will take on Summerville in a holiday battle at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday at. Summerville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
