Branford moved up to 43 from 75 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southern Connecticut Division II - West. The Hornets climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Sheehan 47-13.
Law took down East Haven 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Kosa ran for 89 yards in the win.
Hillhouse's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Je'Vaughn Moore threw for 77 and one touchdown and Harold Cooper had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Cooper chipped in 137 yards. Andre Anderson helped Hillhouse's passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.
The Academics' Moore and Cooper have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moore has thrown for 228 yards this season, while Cooper, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has seven catches for 103 yards. Alex Borkowski from Branford leads the league in rushing with 580 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Lawmen take on Mike Tracy's team. Law is in third place, while the Hornets are in second place.
Branford made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,036 from 7,676. The advance stemmed from a 47-13 victory over the Titans last week.
