Matthew Fountain made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Fountain was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot got a massive performance out of Taylor Hamner, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Hamner a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Dylan McCarthy, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Brunswick Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Amelia Academy 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 23, 2024.
Brunswick Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Washburn, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Brunswick Academy's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Brunswick Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot continue to outrun the ball?
