After flying high against Rochelle on Friday, Somonauk came back down to earth. The Bobcats took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Earlville Red Raiders on Monday. The Bobcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kaydence Eade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Somonauk saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Bahrey, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Somonauk's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Earlville, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-5.

While Somonauk had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
