Baseball Recap: Lumberton Wins Going Away Against Onalaska

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lumberton). They blew past the Onalaska Wildcats 12-3 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Colton Harwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Harwell was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Luis Obregon looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Gavin Harmse was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ryan Verde, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Lumberton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Lumberton's record now sits at 6-0. As for Onalaska, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Lumberton will be taking part in a tournament against Warren at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Warren is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.4 runs per game this season. Onalaska will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th.
