Suburban Christian - Gold recap October 1, 2013
Wheaton Academy moved up to 211 from 248 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Suburban Christian - Gold. The Warriors were able to move up by beating Walther Lutheran 47-25.
IC Catholic Prep lost to Marian Central Catholic 49-17 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jack Copher was a bright spot for the Knights, as he threw for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 24 yards in the loss.
TYLER FLYNN provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Guerin College Preparatory lost to Chicago Christian. He completed 25 passes for 232 yards and also ran for 48 yards. FLYNN's favorite target this week was COREY JONES, who caught 6 passes for 80 yards.
Copher and Randy Leslie gave IC Catholic Prep a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Teammate Jordan Rowell added to the ground attack by rushing for 61 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback FLYNN of the Gators is the league leader in passing yards this season with 833. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Clark Brinkman. The IC Catholic Prep star has 11 catches for 237 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Guerin College Preparatory takes on Wheaton Academy. At the moment, Tony Pecoraro's team is in fourth, while Brad Thornton's team is in third.
The Warriors made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,036 from 7,034. The improvement was the result of a 47-25 victory over the Broncos last week.
