AAAAAA Region 7 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Norcross extended the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 7 this week by beating Collins Hill, 35-23. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Peachtree Ridge took down Mountain View 34-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Trevor Campbell ran for 103 yards in the win.
North Gwinnett's dynamic duo of Michael Haynes and Nate Brown proved tough for Mill Creek to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Haynes threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns and Brown had 97 yards receiving. Caleb Scott helped North Gwinnett's passing attack out by catching four balls for 88 yards.
Alvin Kamara was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 312 yards on 24 carries as Norcross beat the Hawks. Myles Autry also contributed to the rushing game with 36 yards on the ground.
Norcross' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Blue Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Joseph Wilber has thrown for 1193 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Clinton Lynch has 21 catches for 449 yards. Kamara leads the league in rushing with 999 yards.
The Blue Devils' Kamara is a mere one yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in AAAAAA Region 7 this week will be when Norcross takes on Mountain View. As it stands, the Blue Devils are in first, while the Bears are in seventh.
The Screaming Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 943 from 1,571. The improvement came about via a 35-23 victory over Collins Hill last week.
