Saul Mendez Turns in Season-Best Performance
On Friday, Tempe got the W thanks in part to Saul Mendez playing the best football he has all season. Mendez threw for 347 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Unfortunately for Bourgade Catholic, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Mendez. Mendez threw for 226 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes the last time he and the Golden Eagles duked it out back in October of 2023.

Gavin Wyler Delivers Best Effort of Season
Benjamin Franklin was led to victory by Gavin Wyler, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Wyler threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
The win was the fifth in a row for Benjamin Franklin, bringing their record for this year to 8-1. Wyler and Benjamin Franklin will welcome Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Big Game from Allen As Benjamin Franklin Won 42-7
Keeping Wyler company is Ridge Allen, a fellow Benjamin Franklin player. He rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Gilbert Christian's probably not too fond of Allen given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Allen saw the Knights), he rushed for 209 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.

Arthur Murphy Makes It Two for Tempe
Another Tempe player making an appearance on this list is Arthur Murphy. He picked up 64 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Tempe's success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).
For the year, Murphy has caught 14 touchdowns while averaging 85.8 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after nine games last season, he was only averaging 48.22 receiving yards per game.

Rounding off our Top Five is Sam Webb of Gilbert Christian. Webb rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards.
If the past is any indication, Webb could be in store for another big game when he takes on Tempe on Friday. When Webb last faced the Buffaloes back in October of 2023, he rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
