Football Recap: Wills Point Skates Past Kemp with Ease

After only seven points in their last matchup, Wills Point made sure to put some points up on the board against Kemp on Thursday. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Yellowjackets 36-7. With the Tigers ahead 29-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

TANNER MADDOX had a dynamite game, rushing for 87 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, while also throwing for 140 yards and one touchdown. Those 87 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. LANDON HAMILTON was another key player, rushing for 90 yards and one score on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wills Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 339 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Another reason for the win was Wills Point's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by REESE PETERSON and JUSTIN BROOKS, who racked up four sacks between them.

Wills Point's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Kemp, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
