Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holyoke). They won by a run and slipped past Hampden Charter School of Science 19-18. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Purple Knights as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Holyoke got a massive performance out of Grace Bechard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Bechard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alanna Bonilla, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Holyoke always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .705. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Holyoke's victory bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Hampden Charter School of Science, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holyoke will head out to take on Southwick Regional at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hampden Charter School of Science, they will challenge Pathfinder RVT at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
