Pine Lake Prep is a perfect 10-0 against Bradford Prep since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pride will challenge the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Pine Lake Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Pine Lake Prep blew Mountain Island Charter out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Mountain Island Charter got their revenge. The Pride fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pride have suffered since April 12, 2024.
Kristen Armstrong was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Sydney Gillmore made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Ava Cornacchione was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Bradford Prep posted their closest victory since March 4th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy 16-15. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.
The team relied heavily on Cayden McKoy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Alison McLaren, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Bradford Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Pine Lake Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Bradford Prep, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pine Lake Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. However, it's not like Bradford Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .557. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pine Lake Prep took their victory against Bradford Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pride since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
