The Johnson County Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 64-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ashe County. Johnson County lost against Ashe County in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 59-57 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ashe County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blake Peters, who scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Harrison Langdon, who scored 14 points.
Johnson County's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Ashe County, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Volunteer at 10:30 a.m. on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Volunteer is ranked 350th, while Johnson County is ranked 330th). Ashe County and Starmount will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Starmount is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
