The Fillmore Central Panthers were the 51-40 winner over the Shelby-Rising City Huskies when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Fillmore Central took a 46-30 bruising from Shelby-Rising City on Thursday. Fillmore Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Fillmore Central still got an impressive performance from Makenna Mccoy, who scored 11 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shelby-Rising City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaleigh Ruth, who scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ava Larmon was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Fillmore Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Shelby-Rising City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Fillmore Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fullerton at 11:00 a.m. on December 29, 2023. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Fullerton is ranked 234th, while Fillmore Central is ranked 233rd). Shelby-Rising City will finish 2023 at home by hosting Clarkson/Leigh at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarkson/Leigh is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50 points per game.
