The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Thomas Heyward Academy in their matchups with John Paul II: they've now lost six in a row.
Brady Mahoney continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for John Paul II, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Mahoney has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Majorkiewicz, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Thomas Heyward Academy dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home. As for John Paul II, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Heyward Academy will face off against Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cross will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Thomas Heyward Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for John Paul II, they will head out on the road to face off against Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hilton Head Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
