Baseball Recap: North Posey Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Posey hadn't done well against Evansville Reitz recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Vikings blew past the Panthers 9-1. Considering the Vikings have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jed Galvin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Mansfield, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Colby Angel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.

The victory was the third in a row for North Posey, bringing their record up to 17-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Evansville Reitz, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, North Posey and Evansville Reitz will both be playing Evansville Memorial the next time they take the field. The Vikings will head out to face the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
